The Ruaha National Park
The second biggest National Park in Tanzania has become more popular in the past years. It is situated along the
Great Ruaha River, that flows on into the Rufiji River. The park has a very nice landscape, with the southern part of the park at a height of about 900m, below the about 200m
higher Ruaha Rift Valley. Together with the Game Reserves of Rungwa and Kizigo, the Ruaha National Park forms the Ruaha eco- system.
The Ruaha's miombo woodland on the surface looks like a rather monotonous thicket of verdure but in actuality it is
a thriving biosphere. Here more the 1600 species of plant and over 400 species of birdlife have been identified.
Along the Ruaha river that forms the southern part of the
park, is the main attraction however, when game viewing. Ruaha is known for large Elephant herds, as well as the chance to see Greater and Lesser Kudu as well as the Sable and Roan Antelope.
